Commonly Asked Top Questions when Considering a Microsoft cloud migration.
Why should we move to the Microsoft Cloud?

There are pro's and con's to consider.

Pro's:

  • Scalability: Cloud services offer the flexibility to scale resources up or down based on your needs, allowing you to easily accommodate changing demands.
  • Cost savings: Cloud computing eliminates the need for upfront infrastructure investment, reduces hardware and maintenance costs, and enables pay-as-you-go pricing models.
  • Accessibility: Cloud services can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, allowing for remote work and improved collaboration.
  • Disaster recovery and data backup: Cloud providers typically offer robust backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring the safety and availability of your data.
  • Improved security: Cloud providers often have dedicated teams and resources to ensure the security of their platforms, which can provide better security measures than what some organizations can implement on their own.

Con's:

  • Dependency on the internet: Cloud services require a stable internet connection, and any disruptions in connectivity can impact access to your applications and data.
  • Minimized control: In moving to the cloud, the responsibility of back-end infrastructure is removed from local IT personnel.
  • Compliance and regulatory considerations: Certain industries and jurisdictions have strict regulations regarding data privacy and residency, which may require careful evaluation and adherence during cloud migration.
How much am I saving by doing this?

The cost savings associated with migrating to the cloud depend on various factors, including the size of your organization, your current infrastructure costs, and the specific cloud services you choose. A TCO calculation can be provided to provide more factual savings estimates.
How expensive is it to do business in the cloud after migration?

The cost of doing business in the cloud after migration can vary depending on factors such as the size of your organization, the specific cloud services used, and the level of usage. Cloud services typically operate on a subscription-as-a-service model, where you pay for the licenses and services you consume. Generally, subscriptions can range anywhere from $4 USD/user to $22 USD/user monthly (costs include security).
Will Cowbell know if I migrated to cloud?  How will it help my insurance?

Cowbell is a cyber insurance provider, and migrating to the cloud may have implications for your insurance coverage. Migrating to the cloud can potentially enhance your security posture, especially if you take advantage of the built-in security measures provided by cloud providers. This improved security may help reduce your overall risk and potentially lower your insurance premiums or improve your coverage terms. Cowbell will be notified upon completion of your cloud migration and they will ask you to activate your Microsoft O365 integration in their platform, which typically raises Cowbell Factor ratings and generally improves customer risk posture as compared to industry peers.
How long does it take to migrate to cloud?

The duration of an email migration can vary widely depending on the complexity of your infrastructure, the size of your data, the specific cloud services being adopted, and the level of planning and preparation.  Smaller migrations (50 users) can take between 7-9 days, while larger and more complex migrations might take several months to complete.
